Digital Desk: The State Bank of India (SBI) on Saturday withdrew the circular, which had a controversial remark upon pregnant women. The order stated that women into their second trimester of pregnancy as "unfit" for recruitment and promotions.
After issuing this directive, State Bank of India (SBI) received a barrage of negative remarks upon the criteria added in the order. The nation's most extensive public sector bank conveyed it would replace to position quo in appointments.
Yet, its employee's union is not pleased with the reaction as the previous norms discriminated against pregnant women.

In a virtual order issued on December 31, 2021, the SBI notified its local departments of its revised medical norms across the nation. According to these standards, a pregnant woman who has been pregnant for more than three months would be regarded as "temporarily incompetent". A pregnant woman would be permitted to resume work only four months after having a child.
After receiving several criticisms from various employee unions, letters from the Delhi Commission for Women to SBI Chairman Dinesh Kumar Kara, and Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and fury over social media, the State Bank of India (SBI) issued a notice suspending these standards.
"SBI has decided to keep the revised instructions regarding recruitment of pregnant women in abeyance and continue the existing instructions in the matter," the new statement stated.
