Digital Desk: Two unidentified men shot and killed an accused in the 2013 brutal murder of Indian national Sarabjit Singh in Kot Lakhpat jail in the Islampura neighborhood of Lahore, according to a report from Pakistan's Samaa TV on Sunday.

After two suspects on a motorcycle broke into his home in the Islampura neighborhood of Lahore on Sunday morning and fired four shots at him, Aamir Sarfaraz, also known as Tamba, passed away from his injuries.

Samaa TV claimed, citing hospital sources, that Sarfaraz passed away in a hospital from heavy bleeding.

According to his relatives, he had been getting threats for a while. The family claims that two unknown motorcycle riders entered the home and started shooting at him.

Sarfaraz was shot twice in the chest and twice in the legs, according to police sources. Samaa TV said that the body has been taken into custody by police officials, who have also initiated an inquiry.

Two individuals on a motorcycle broke into Tamba's home and started shooting at him, according to the police, and he was shot and killed in the Ganga Street neighborhood of Islampura.

As forces arrived at the scene of the event, according to the police, he was brought to the hospital for treatment. To carry out the hunt for the attackers, whose identities are yet unknown, the area was roped off.

According to authorities, a report regarding the attack on Tamba has been filed at the Islampura police station under the murder provisions, following a complaint by his brother Junaid Sarfaraz. The murder provisions were used to register the case.

Tamba's brother stated in the FIR that "one attacker was wearing a helmet and the other was wearing a mask." He claimed that following the attack, Tamba was driven in an ambulance to a hospital, per a Samaa TV report.

Sarabjit Singh was a Punjabi farmer from Bhikhiwind town who used to reside close to the India-Pakistan border. One night, while intoxicated, he unintentionally crossed the border. However, in 1991, a Pakistani court sentenced him to death.

After serving a 22-year jail at the Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore, Singh was beaten up by his fellow prisoners and rushed to the hospital. Following an attack on him on the jail premises in 2013, Singh was left comatose for five days before medics at Lahore's Jinnah Hospital pronounced him dead.

Samaa TV stated that Tamba and Mudassar, Tamba's co-accused, were cleared of all charges by the Lahore District and Sessions Court in December 2018, regarding the death of Sarabjit Singh while in captivity. The court had granted the acquittal on the grounds that there was insufficient evidence.
