Digital Desk: India’s second death owing to the Omicron strain has been recorded in Rajasthan’s Udaipur. The 73-year-old man who died due to the new covid-19 variation had hypertension and diabetes.
Chief Medical and Health Officer Udaipur Division, Dr Dinesh Kharadi, said, “A 73-year-old man diagnosed positive for Omicron strain on December 15 died today. He was later tested negative twice; therefore, this will be referred to as a post-covid death rather than a covid-19 death.”

Doctors reports said that the deceased was a diabetic patient for the past 13 years.
However, the government has claimed his death due to his underlying medical condition and not because of Omicron.
Health Bulletin of Public Health Department stated, “The death of this patient is due to non-covid-19 reasons. Coincidently, today’s National Institute of Virology (NIV) report has revealed that he was infected with the Omicron variant of covid-19.”
This comes as the state continues to report an increase in the cases of delta variant and Omicron for the second day in a row, prompting prohibitory orders in financial capital until January 7.
