Security breach in Parliament: Two persons jump into Lok Sabha from public gallery, detained

The event resulted in the MPs leaving the parliament, and the session was adjourned immediately.

Digital Desk: The lower house of Parliament in India, the Lok Sabha, experienced a serious security breach on December 13, 2023, when two people jumped from the visitors' gallery into the chamber.

The event resulted in the MPs leaving the parliament, and the session was adjourned immediately.

It was stated that one of the intruders sprayed some sort of gas that irritated people's eyes.

The fact that the breach occurred on the 22nd anniversary of the attack on Parliament made the issue even more serious. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury told the media that when the two people jumped into the chamber, they were overpowered by other members. Leader of the Trinamool Congress Kakoli Dastidar also observed that the people were yelling slogans when they released the gas.

Securing operations, assembling a breach response team, carrying out thorough evaluations, and preventing further data loss are among the measures experts advise taking in reaction to such security breaches. Preventive steps include firewalls and encryption technologies, strict password regulations, frequent software and security patch updates, cybersecurity training for staff members, and reliable network security. Laws and rules controlling the processing of sensitive data can also promote transparency and motivate the reporting of any breaches.

This event emphasises how crucial it is to effectively disclose breaches and how businesses, especially governmental entities, must take precautions to guard against intrusions that might cause financial loss or compromise personal data.
