Digital Desk: In a shocking incident in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, Mamta Pandey and Asha Pandey found themselves in a perilous situation as they protested against a road construction project in Hinota Jorot village. The women were buried up to their necks under a heap of gravel gradually dumped from a truck, an act captured on a viral video that has sparked widespread outrage.

The incident took place at the Hinota Jorot village under Mangawa police station when the two women were protesting the construction of a road in the area.

The video depicts Mamta and Asha seated behind a truck loaded with gravel, moments before the gravel cascades over them, burying them alive up to their necks. Immediate intervention by residents saved them from further harm, rushing them to a nearby health center for immediate medical attention. Thankfully, both women have been discharged and are reported to be in stable condition.

Police have taken swift action, seizing the dumper involved and apprehending one suspect, while two others remain at large. According to authorities, the incident stemmed from a family dispute over land ownership, further complicating the already distressing ordeal.

The incident has not only highlighted the precarious conditions under which protesters sometimes find themselves but has also become a focal point for political discourse. Opposition figures, including Congress youth leader Srinivas BV, have criticized the BJP-led state government for its perceived inaction and silence on the matter, calling attention to the broader issue of women's safety and the need for justice.

As investigations continue, the community remains on edge, hoping for swift justice for Mamta and Asha and greater accountability in ensuring public safety during protests.
