Digital Desk: In recent days, popular YouTube Dhruv Rathee found himself embroiled in a swirl of misinformation regarding his personal life. Reports circulating on social media alleged that Mr. Rathee, known for his incisive critiques of government policies, had a hidden identity and lived a clandestine life in Pakistan's Karachi under the protection of the Pakistani military.
These baseless claims suggested that Mr. Rathee, whose real name purportedly was Badruddin Rashid Lahori, resided in the bungalow of infamous underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim, alongside his wife, Julie, reportedly a Pakistani national named Zulaikha.
There have been many posts recently targeting Mr Rathee, who has over 18 million subscribers and is known for his videos critical of the government.
In response, Mr. Rathee vehemently denied these allegations, attributing them to a smear campaign aimed at discrediting his work. "They have no answer to the videos I made so they're spreading these fake claims," he stated, emphasizing the malicious intent behind such rumors.
Despite these challenges, Rathee's YouTube channel continues to attract widespread attention for its insightful critiques of government policies and societal issues, reaffirming its role as a platform for informed discourse.
