Purnam Kumar Shaw, 40, was detained by Pakistan Rangers in Punjab's Ferozepur district on April 23, a day after the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir's Baisaran Valley.
Digital Desk: The Border Security Force constable, who was detained by Pakistan after he crossed the Line of Control (LoC), returned to India on Wednesday.
Purnam Kumar Shaw, 40, was detained by Pakistan Rangers in Punjab's Ferozepur district on April 23, a day after the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir's Baisaran Valley.
He was handed over to the Indian authorities at 10:30 am on May 14 through the Joint Check Post, Attari, Amritsar.
Following the development, the BSF released a statement and informed that the handover was conducted peacefully and accordance with established protocols.
Shaw, who has been with the BSF for 17 years, is a resident of West Bengal's Hooghly. He was in his uniform and was carrying his service rifle when he was detained.
Shaw's family has now expressed their joy and relief at the same time and said that they received an official confirmation from BSF headquarters regarding his release.
Bholenath Shaw, Purnam Kumar Shaw's father expressed his gratitude to the Indian government, Chief Minister of West Bengal, state leaders and God for his release.
