    Helicopter Crash Near Uttarkashi Leaves Five Dead
    The helicopter, reportedly operated by a private company, was en route to the holy town of Gangotri

    Digital Desk: A fatal accident of a helicopter was reported at Ganganani in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district on Thursday, in which 5 persons were killed and two others critically injured. The helicopter which was flying for a private company, was conducting a voyage to Gangotri, the holy site, when it crashed around 09:00 AM.

    It was reported that there were other people on the aircraft before the crash that there were six people on board. Chief of Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said this while giving details of the death and condition of the injured. It is however, unfortunate that to this moment the cause of the crash remains unknown.

    Local residents and police were the first to get to the scene of the crash, which occurred in the Gangani area, surrounded by mountains. Operations to rescue the trapped people started immediately with personnel from the police department, the army, Disaster Management, the ambulance services, and officials from the Bhatwadi district, including the Tehsildar and BDO.

    The first responders and the disaster management and relief teams remains at the scene as efforts are underway to attend to the injured and contain the impact of the crash.
