In Srinagar, A Grenade Explosion Injured Ten Innocent Civilians.

Kashmir is still burning with unrest as IGP Police Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, visited the Govt SHMS hospital...

Digital Desk: Today, ten civilians were injured in a grenade explosion that took place at a bustling market at Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar, close to Amira Kadal. According to official sources, militants hurled a grenade at security forces around 2:45 p.m. The grenade, however, did not explode as planned; instead, it burst at the edge of a road, hitting young civilian bystanders. The injured persons were evacuated immediately to the nearest hospital or received medical care there.

As a result of the unfortunate event, the police, and the paramilitary forces swiftly reached the scene immediately to deal with the situation and to proceed with the containment exercise to make the place secure for people and other occupants. Following the attack, all the entry and exit points in and around Lal Chowk were sealed, and checkpoints across the city were activated.

Omar Abdullah, Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister, reacted to the attack, remarking it as “deeply disturbing.” He shared his opinions on X, previously known as Twitter, saying, “The last few days have been filled with attacks and encounters in some parts of the valley.” The grenade attack on innocent shoppers of the ‘Sunday market’ at Srinagar has disturbed me today more than anything else. The Chief Minister also asked security forces to maximize their efforts to cover up recent appearances of attacks.

Kashmir is still burning with unrest as IGP Police Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, visited the Govt SHMS hospital where the injured were admitted. The local community responded to the situation being a violation of\ their security; one of the inhabitants said, “This kind of thing never happened here before.” Even during the peak of militancy, such an event never took place before.”

The attack occurred a day after a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander was eliminated in an encounter in Srinagar’s Khanyar area.
