The Bishnoi community holds the Blackbuck in high regard and considers it sacred…
Digital Desk: The animosity between Bollywood actor Salman Khan and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi started due to the right to kill blackbucks in 1998. A 42-year-old named Bishnoi belongs to a tribal community that considers the animal holy and hence he decided to kill Khan. For this insult to its culture over the years, Bishnoi’s gang has threatened the actor with death several times gang.
The Bishnoi community holds the Blackbuck in high regard and considers it sacred. The blackbuck poaching incident happened around 1988 in Rajashthan during the filing of the movie ‘Hum Sath-Sath Hain’.
The animosity turned lethal in the year 2022 when Bishnoi’s gang posted life life threatening letter to Khan’s father Salim Khan. In a few interviews, Lawrence Bishnoi clarified his mission to kill the actor, named Salman Khan. In the earlier years of 2020, the gang’s power surged after carrying out violent crimes in India, and most recently, assassinating singer Sidhu Moosewala. Bishnoi’s associate Goldie Brar has also threatened Salman Khan, the actor has been provided with Y-plus security.
Further in 2023 new threats were posted on social media stating that no one including Dawood Ibrahim could save Salman. These threats led to the enhancement of security around the actor such as hosting a bulletproof car. At the moment, Mumbai Police are trying to track down the origin of the new threats, although Bishnoi has been already detained.
Moreover, on 13th October 2024, Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office. Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang member posted on social media claiming full responsibility for the attack and posted that every close aide of Salman would meet the same fate. On 18th October Mumbai police received a Whatsapp message demanding around 5 crore from the actor otherwise his fate would be worse than that of the NCP leader. This hate has put Khan on the receiving end with his public appearances being protected like those of the President.
