Pak Shelling Kills Rajouri’s ADDC Raj Kumar Thappa
He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries

Digital Desk: In a major escalation of conflict along the Line of Control (LoC), the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Rajouri Raj Kumar Thappa was killed early on Saturday when a shell fired by the enemy across the border detonated in his house. The attack happened at approximately 5.30 AM as Pakistan rained heavy shelling on several points in Jammu and Kashmir.

One of the second lieutenants of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services, Thappa had just entered his home  after stepping out to observe the prevailing situation after a spate of loud blasts. Bullets penetrated his room and killed him outright. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital but passed away. There were also two injured members of his staff during the incident.

Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah conveyed deep grief calling Thappa a –“dedicated officer” who had accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister for an official visit the very day before. “We have lost a dedicated public servant. His demise is a huge blow to the administration and those he served,” Abdullah tweeted on X,  formerly known as Twitter.
number of cities throughout Jammu and Kashmir such as Srinagar, Jiam, Udhampur and Rajouri while increased shelling by the Pak led to further commotion. These periphery areas (Akhnoor, Uri, Gurez, Hamirpur and Pallanwala) also became a target point of artillery fire.

The escalation comes after overnight Indian attacks on four Pakistani airbases. Pakistan military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry said during a morning press briefing that the Indian forces did target three Pakistani military bases, but provided no evidence.

Tensions continue to run high along the LoC; fears of another escalation still hang.
