The Election Commission of India has scheduled these bye-elections for September 3 to fill 12 Rajya Sabha seats that have become vacant due to several prominent leaders moving to the Lok Sabha after the recent general elections.
Digital Desk: The BJP has announced its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha bye-elections, including Rameswar Teli and Mission Ranjan Das from Assam. This announcement, made in an official notification on Tuesday, reveals that the party has proposed a total of nine candidates.
Rameswar Teli, a former Lok Sabha MP from Dibrugarh and ex-Minister of State in the Modi 2.0 government, will be contesting. Mission Ranjan Das, a former MLA from Karimganj and the current chairman of the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), is also among the candidates.

This includes seats vacated by Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Jyotiraditya Scindia, as well as BJP members Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Vivek Thakur, Udayanraje Bhosle, and Biplab Kumar Deb, RJD's Misha Bharti, and Congress members Deepender Singh Hooda and K C Venugopal.
Additionally, the BJP has nominated Rajib Bhattacharjee from Tripura, Mamata Mohanta from Odisha, Manan Kumar Mishra from Bihar, Kiran Choudhary from Haryana, George Kurian from Madhya Pradesh, Dhairyashil Patil from Maharashtra, and Ravneet Singh Bittu from Rajasthan.
To ensure uniformity and prevent discrepancies or tampering during the elections, the Election Commission has mandated that only "integrated violet color sketch pens with specific pre-determined specifications" provided by the returning officer will be used for marking preferences on ballot papers.
