Digital Desk: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) suspended former Assam Pradesh Youth Congress President Dr. Angkita Dutta, from the primary membership of the party on April 21.
She was suspended by the APCC for failing to reply to the show cause notice that was issued to her, to which she was required to reply within 24 hours.
However, Dutta stated that she had responded to the show cause notice but had not received further messages.
Meanwhile, APCC President Bhupen Kumar Borah stated that Angkita's claims against Srinivas BV were disgraceful and harmed the image of the Congress party, which led to Angkita's expulsion.
The decision came after Angkita filed a complaint against the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) chairman, Srinivas BV, accusing him of mental harassment, physical assault, and using sexist remarks against her.
On the other hand, Angkita's complaint, lodged at Dispur Police Station on April 19, has sent shock waves through the Congress party. The serious claims imposed by Angkita against Srinivas have sparked concerns about the treatment of female party members and the internal operations of the Congress.
According to Angkita's complaint, Srinivas has been mentally torturing her and making chauvinistic statements about her for the past six months. She further said that he used slang language and threatened her with terrible consequences if she continued to report about him to higher party leaders.
