The scuffle for seat sharing and the delayed campaigns of the INDIA block in the state have triggered uncertainty among the leaders and supporters.
Digital Desk: The opposition parties hold a conference at The Lily Hotel in Guwahati on Wednesday. According to the sources, all the influential opposition leaders attended the meeting to discuss the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
The meeting was attended by over 30 coalition leaders, including Bhupen Bora, Debabrata Saikia, Akhil Gogoi, Ripun Bora, and Lurinjyoti Gogoi. Bhupen Borah took to Facebook to inform about the meeting. However, an official statement on the resolution of the meeting is awaited.
As per the reports, the main agenda of the meeting was seat-sharing and political fielding for the 2024 elections.
On Congress leader Rana Goswami’s exit, Bhupen Borah said in a statement, “I am not a barometer to tell whether Rana Goswami's exit will harm the party or not. People will say whether there is a need for opposition in elections or not.”
A committee to coordinate Assam’s electoral campaigning is likely to be formed. The committee will be tasked with determining whose leaders from both parties will run for the coalition seats and completing the plan for election campaigns, sources said.
