Digital Desk: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a pointed attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah, linking their presence at the ICC T20 Men's World Cup final to India's defeat against Australia. Addressing Trinamool Congress workers at Kolkata's Netaji Indoor Stadium, Banerjee remarked that India won all matches in the World Cup except the one attended by what she referred to as "sinners."

The match, in which India lost to Australia in the finals at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi stadium, saw the presence of PM Modi and Amit Shah. Banerjee hinted that India might have secured victory if the final had taken place in Kolkata or Mumbai.

In a scathing remark against the BJP, she accused them of attempting to "saffronize" the cricket team by introducing saffron practice jerseys, claiming that the players resisted and did not wear these jerseys during the matches.

Banerjee also predicted a shift in focus for central agencies post the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, suggesting they would target the BJP, currently targeting opposition leaders.

Regarding the ongoing cash-for-query case involving her party's MP, Mahua Moitra, Banerjee mentioned that, amidst plans to expel Moitra, this action might ironically favor her before the elections, hinting at a strategic move by her party.

With three months left for the current government's tenure, Mamata Banerjee's remarks highlight the ongoing political tensions and her party's readiness for the approaching electoral landscape.
