Digital Desk: In the upcoming session of the Delhi Assembly, the Aam Aadmi Party government is likely to introduce a resolution criticising the Agnipath defence recruitment programme of the Centre. The contentious programme, which the Center launched on June 14 and which had sparked protests across the nation, was slammed by AAP administration in Punjab on Thursday.
With the potential to retain 25% of them for 15 more years, the Agnipath initiative aims to enlist young people in the armed forces in the age range of 17 and a half to 21. The maximum age has been raised to 23 years old for 2022.
Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, the leader of the opposition, argued that a two-day session was inadequate and accused the Kejriwal government of avoiding questions about pressing societal issues. According to him, the BJP will pressure the government over problems with waterlogging, subpar public transportation, education, health, and pollution, as well as liquor stores in residential areas. During the session, the newly elected Rajinder Nagar AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak will also take the oath of office.
