During today's Cabinet meeting, the Maharashtra Cabinet renames Aurangabad, among other major decisions

The Supreme Court is currently deliberating a petition that challenges the state governor's order for a floor test on Thursday. During this time, the meeting was held.

Digital Desk: At its cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the
Maharashtra administration, which is on the verge of disintegrating as a result
of a revolt by Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, made three significant choices.
The cabinet resolved to change the names of several places, including
Aurangabad to Sambhaji Nagar, Usmanabad to Dharashiv, and Navi Mumbai Airport
to DB Patil International Airport in place of Balasaheb Thackeray.

    The Supreme Court is currently
deliberating a petition that challenges the state governor's order for a floor
test on Thursday. During this time, the meeting was held.

Since they both tested positive for coronavirus, Deputy
Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Cabinet Minister Chhagan Bhujbal are
participating electronically at the meeting. The chief minister paid respects
to the portraits of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and B.R. Ambedkar after
arriving at Mantralaya, the state headquarters.

After a request to rename Aurangabad
as Sambhajinagar was made at the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the decision to do
so was made the following day. Shiv Sena member Anil Parab claimed that he
wanted Aurangabad, a city in central Maharashtra, to be renamed Sambhajinagar.
A close friend of Thackeray's, Parab, will present a suggestion at the Cabinet
    meeting tomorrow, he had stated.

Due to a Shiv Sena uprising and accusations that it has
compromised on its basic Hindutva philosophy, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha
Vikas Aghadi (MVA) administration is in an existential crisis. The Maratha
monarch Chhatrapati Sambhaji was to be honoured by renaming the central
Maharashtra city, but the opposition BJP has been seeking to corner the Sena,
    which leads the three-party coalition.

    The Mughal emperor Aurangazeb
established the city of Aurangabad in the Marathwada district of modern-day
Maharashtra. He is seen as a divisive character in Indian history.
Additionally, he had mandated the death of Chhatrapati Sambhaji, a Shiv Sena
    hero.
