Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Kongkal Sangma inaugurated the higher secondary building of St. Xavier's, Umoid, near Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills.
Other dignitaries of the state also accompanied the inauguration event. Local MLAs and ministers, including Renikton Tongkhar Lyngdoh and Regional Development Director Jesuits in Northeast India, Fr. Anand Pareira, were present at the event.
Chief Minister Conrad also presented his valuable words to the school's students. During his speech, he stated the Jesuits have always contributed immensely to the holistic growth of society through their various initiatives.

He has expressed his confidence that St. Xaviers Umoid will also improve into a centre of excellence that will impart quality education to the region's people.
Conrad was also impressed with the talent and confidence showcased by the students during the event function. He has additionally advised students to follow their passion in whatever they do. He also added that there is no alternative for discipline and no shortcut for hard work to be successful in life.
The chief minister further informed the region's people that the government had secured externally aided schemes for balancing tourism infrastructure in South West Khasi Hills.
