    108 Gir cows brought to Assam for Garukhuti Project

    Guwahati: To meet the demand for milk in the state, 108 Gir cows have been brought from Gujarat to Assam on Thursday. 





    Reportedly, the Gir cows have reached Rangiya by train and taken to Garukhuti by truck. In connection to it, 15 youths have been trained for the mega project. 





    According to official reports, the Gir cows have been brought from Bhavnagar, which claims to produce 14-15 litres of milk per day.

    Further, the official claimed that it would solve the demand for milk in the state, further solving the unemployment issue. 





    Earlier, a team under the leadership of MLA of Sootea constituency Padma Hazarika mets Gujarat Minister of Agriculture and Veterinary Raghavji Patel. 





    Moreover, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also spoke to Gujarat chief minister Bhupendrabhai Patel in connection to it.





    As per the government statement for the Garukhuti project, 2,000 Gir cows will be brought to the state, out of which 500 will be brought by March 2022. 





    Notably, the Assam budget allocated Rs. 9.60 crore for the Garukhuti project. The project aims to promote afforestation and agriculture activities.
