15-year-old autistic girl raped, man held in Cachar

Cachar: In yet another case of sensational rape, a 15-year-old autistic girl was raped by a 35-year-old man in the Cachar district. 

Reportedly, the case took place when the girl was alone in her home.

Victim parents were daily wage workers who lived in the Ledia tea estate. The accused is also a resident of the same area, sources quoted.

According to the victim's father, the incident came to light after they returned home from their work.

"When we returned home from work, we found that our child was groaning in pain. She cannot speak, but we know her language. Through her indication, she showed that she was raped." he said.

Based on the complaints lodged by the victim's father, the police arrested the accused from a house in Ledia tea estates and was produced before the court on the same day.

Police official said, "After interrogation, the accused admitted that he had forced himself on her when she was alone."

Sources quoted the victim was taken to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for treatment and SMCH's report has been collected by police. However, the victim's statement will be recorded once she recovers physically.

As per the court's order, the accused has been sent to the Silchar Jail.
