Assam MLA Akhil Gogoi Says no to a merge of his party and Trinamool Congress, offered by Mamata Bane

Guwahati: Akhil Gogoi, MLA of Sibsagar Constituency, said that the party would not join hands with Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee. After a long meeting of Akhil Gogoi with the TMC chief Mamata Banerjee on Saturday, reports of Akhil's possible induction into the regional party surfaced. However, Akhil Gogoi cleared the air by saying that though the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has offered him the post of State President of TMC in Assam by merging Raijor dal with TMC in Assam, he has declined the offer.

TMC, Raijor Dal and Akhil Gogoi, and Political strategist Prashant Kishor have sat thrice in a formal meeting about how to come up in the upcoming election. In a meeting, Akhil said that the people of Assam see us as the representative of the regional force in Assam. Assamese people take Raijor Dal as the only alternative. He said that a united front is necessary to fight against BJP. Soon or the latter not going to join Trinamool Congress.

To eject Bharatiya Janata Party from power, the process of creating a national alliance with all the regional parties in India has started, says Akhil Gogoi. Talks are going on to bring all the regional parties together and make Mamata Banerjee the Prime Ministerial candidate for 2024.
