    Assam TET: Assam government to re-examine all the TET qualified teachers

    Guwahati: Keeping in view the recent TET exam scam, the Assam government has ordered to re-examine the testament of all the TET (Teachers Eligibility Test)-qualified teachers in the last five years.






    Accordingly, the state directorate of secondary education has instructed all school inspectors of 21 districts to submit a report on the testaments of the TET-qualified teachers by October 22, 2021.






    Moreover, the state education department has requested all the school inspectors to submit the candidates' appointment date, year of TET clearance, roll number of the TET-qualified candidates, percentage secured in TET exam, candidates contact information and the schools where they are currently posted.






    Earlier, in connection to fake TET certificates, 36 teachers were arrested by the CID. Additionally, to investigate the matter the Assam government has set up a Special Investigation Team.

    Reportedly, scores of fake TET qualified teachers were teaching at several schools in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), including the districts-Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri and Kokrajhar.






    The government source said, between October 2016 and September 2021, the state education department assigned 5,592 TET-cleared teachers in various provincialized schools, including high schools, higher secondary schools and high madrassas.






    In 2016-2017 the state education department recruited 73 TET teachers, out of which 44 are Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) and 29 are Graduate teachers (GTs).






    While in 2018-2019, 104 TET teachers were appointed, but no one was appointed for the year 2019-2020.






    Moreover, in 2021-2022, 4,192 teachers were appointed, out of which 4,190 were GTs and two were PGTs.
