    BSF personnel arrests one with heroin worth Rs 6 crore

    Kolasib: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday apprehended one drug peddler in northern Mizoram’s Kolasib district and recovered heroin worth Rs six crore.





    The patrolling team acted on a tip-off on Friday evening, after laying a trap at Chhinluang village along National Highway – 306 and detained the 47-year old drug peddler Ramneithanga and recovered 808.6 gram of heroin contained in a bag from his possession.





    The apprehended person along with seized contraband have been handed over to the Excise and Narcotics department for further legal action under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

    Officials suspect that the drugs were smuggled from neighbouring Myanmar.





    Meanwhile, a day earlier, three jawans of Assam Rifle and one civilian were arrested with a huge amount of suspected heroin in Dibrugarh district of Assam this morning. The arrest was made by Dibrugarh Police led by Additional Superintendent of Police Bitul Chetia.





    The group was intercepted by Police at Jokai near Dibrugarh while they were traveling from Dimapur to Tinsukia. As per Shwetank Mishra Superintendent of Police, Dibrugarh, the police recovered 269 grams of suspected heroin from their possession. The contraband substance is worth Rs 1 crore that was to be delivered by the jawans in Tinsukia to a dealer.





    Apart from the contraband substance, the police also seized two vehicles used by the jawans to deliver the items. A Bolero bearing the registration no (AS07L4096) from Jokai, Dibrugarh and one Tata Xenon bearing registration no (NL11 2673) from Dergaon, Assam was seized from the group.
