Guwahati: Assam police has sent two accused in IPL betting racket after a weeklong police remand of the duo ended yesterday. The accused Dipesh Bajoria and Rajesh Jain were arrested earlier this week after the state police busted an IPL betting racket taking place in the city during a raid.
As per reports, the accused have many names including some well-known businessmen and personalities who were involved in the betting racket. Almost 50 names were revealed, most of whom are on the run now.
On Monday, crime branch had raided the house of one Ajay Agarwal in Nabagraha area in Guwahati and seized five mobile handsets and cash mounting to Rs 3.66 lakh. He has been absconding since.

Also, many names of high-profile businessmen have cropped up during the investigation, who were operating directly or indirectly from different locations of the country.
It may be mentioned here that, the Guwahati Police, Crime Branch had launched an operation in Guwahati recently and busted an IPL betting racket. Police had arrested three gamblers – Dipesh Bajoria, Raunak Bajoria and Rajesh Jain. The trio was allegedly operating a cricket betting racket across the state and the north-eastern region as well.
The police then raided the residence of one Ashok Jain and Manoj Jain in Fancy Bazaar area following the confessions made by the arrested accused. From the business establishment of the Jains and residence (CR Kunj), Rs 26.42 lakh, four mobile phone handsets and some incriminating documents were recovered.
Meanwhile, the police is preparing a list of absconders bearing more than 50 names as confessed by the accused in the IPL betting racket. There are many who are on the run following the revelation of the names of the gamblers. Assam Police is also working in tandem with the state police of other states to lookout for the absconders.
