New Delhi: Mridul Agarwal of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Delhi secured top rank in JEE Advanced 2021. Agarwal scored 348 marks out of 360 marks.
On the other hand, Kavya Chopra excelled in the female category with 286 marks out of 360. Mridul was eyeing JEE Advanced, and he created history today by securing the highest-ever percentile in the IIT entrance test.
Mridul said, "After appearing in the March session, I did not appear for the April session. But took the May session as a preparation time for the Advanced exam. Since the sessions were delayed, it provided me added time to prepare for JEE Advanced and worked sound for me to examine the preparation in a right way before the exam."

Mridul's father, Pradeep Agarwal, works in the private sector. His mother Pooja Agarwal, is a homemaker. Mridul credits his achievement to his parents, who "never pressurised him to pick a career pathway".
His next aim is to join BTech in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at IIT Bombay. IIT Kharagpur provides full scholarships for top-100 JEE Advanced rankers this year, but that has not changed the choice for Mridul . "I have discussed with my seniors regarding the crowd and atmosphere. I feel right for IIT Bombay," he continued.
A sum of 1,41,699 applicants appeared in the engineering entrance exam JEE Advanced 2021. Out of the cumulative qualified applicants, 6452 are females.
