Kohima: The year’s much awaited event, Nagaland’s famed Hornbill Festival will kick-start from December 1 after a gap of one year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Nagaland art and culture department and the organizers of the festival announced the events for the 10-day festival.
The state’s art and cultural department said daily cultural performances will be held at the main arena of the Hornbill Festival.
Cultural troupes from all 17 tribes within the state will showcase their lively songs and dances in their colourful traditional attires in hornbill festival.

The festival is a celebration of the Naga tribal way of life, an extravaganza of the rich cultural heritage of community that show cases the energy and vibrancy of Naga youth.
The Hornbill Festival is the flagship tourism event of Nagaland and has emerged as an internationally acclaimed global festival.
In 2019, the Indian Air Force (IAF) also participated in the event by conducting a spectacular fly-past over the festival site, the Naga Heritage Village Kisama, 10 km away from the state capital Kohima, with Sukhoi 30MKI fighter planes, to commemorate the 57th year of Nagaland state.
Apart from the usual singing, dancing and merry-making, the organizers have also planned to display and sale art works, demonstrative arts by the tribal groups of Nagaland, at the World War-II Museum premises in Kisama.
The Archives’ Exhibition will showcase collection of selected historical documents from public and private records with reading facilities for interested students, scholars and researchers and Sale of departmental publications at World War-II Complex.
