GMC Collects Rs. 50,000 from Parlours & Salons

Guwahati: In its drive for trade license inspection, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has collected over Rs. 50,000 from individuals operating without a valid commercial license here in just three days.

Reportedly, the fine was collected from five unisex parlours, two beauty parlours and one bar-cum-restaurant for functioning their business without a valid license.

Notably, to resist the illegal activities in the city, on November 13, the GMC had issued guidelines for spas, unisex parlours and salons. It also prohibited massage and therapy for the opposite sex in the city.

The decision comes after several civil societies raised a complaint against the growing illegal activities in the city’s parlours, unisex salons and spas.

As per the guidelines of GMC, the main doors of the parlours or salons should be transparent and also, no salons can have an exclusive room or chamber inside the parlour.
