The Assam police had assigned both of the state's top cops to help the Manipur government look into the cases related to the unrest in the state.
Digital Desk: Anand Mishra (Assam-Meghalaya Cadre, 2011 RR Batch), an
Indian Police Service (IPS) officer currently serving as the Superintendent of
Police in Lakhimpur, made a significant declaration today announcing his
unconditional resignation from the IPS, effective January 16, 2024.
"This is to submit my unconditional resignation from
the IPS to pursue a life of freedom and independence that I want to realize
through various social services and other means that are beyond the mandate of
IPS," SP Mishra stated in a letter to the chief secretary.
Previously, as per a governor's notification, the Government of Manipur was able to immediately assign Superintendent of Police, Lakhimpur, IPS Anand Mishra (RR-2011), and Superintendent of Police (Border-II), APS Randeep Kumar Baruah (DR-1993), to lead the SITs established for Manipur incidents.
The Assam police had assigned both of the state's top cops to help the Manipur government look into the cases related to the unrest in the state.
Significantly, the order was given in accordance with the Supreme Court of India's orders in Special Leave Petition (SLP) Civil Dairy No. 19206 of 2023, which was decided on August 7, 2023.
The state knows IPS Mishra as one of the best cops who has consistently battled drug wars, livestock smuggling, robberies, and other crimes.
His humble nature and grounded demeanor have won him several praises from the local community, and he boasts millions of online followers.
He became well-known overnight after being moved to Nagaon as Superintendent of Police from Dhubri.
