Bongaigaon: On Wednesday, the Assam government held their cabinet meeting chaired by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The key decisions taken were-
- Significant changes in the educational sector of the state. It will be according to the new National Educational policy.
- MLA Prodip Hazarika was given the cabinet status.
- Team to be formed to look over illegal land acquisition, headed by MLA Pradip Hazarika.
- Youth Commission to be formed to train the candidates for competitive exams like medical and Engineering.
- Formation of trust for the martyrs of Assam Agitation.
- There will be no language paper in Assam Public Service Commission; instead, they have to be permanent residents of Assam and should know a regional language other than the Assamese language.
- People who do not have ‘land patta will get compensation under ‘Assam Mala Achoni.’
- Government leaves on January 6 and 7 for government employees whose parents or in-laws are alive.
- Bongaigaon college will be upgraded to University within three years.
- Next Cabinet meeting on January 5 at Halflong.
- New DC office to be constructed in Bongaigaon.
- Construction of Bongaigaon Medical college will be started within 3 months, for which the Assam government has taken a loan from NABARD.
