Digital Desk: The 'International Gita Mahotsav' in Kurukshetra, Haryana, witnessed the esteemed presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on December 23. This annual festival holds immense significance for Hindu devotees as it commemorates the birth of the Bhagavad Gita, a sacred scripture revered as a philosophical guide and spiritual teacher.

This year's celebration held particular importance as it unfolded on the sacred grounds of Kurukshetra, where, according to Hindu belief, Lord Krishna imparted the divine message of the Gita to Arjuna. CM Sarma, during the festivities, eloquently emphasized the deep cultural connection between Assam and the epic narrative of the Bhagavad Gita. He said, "Lord Krishna is our son-in-law because he married Rukmini, daughter of Assam. Therefore our relationship with Lord Krishna is that of a son-in-law."

The International Gita Mahotsav featured a vibrant array of spiritual activities, including yajnas, recitation of Gita verses, devotional songs, and dramatic performances. Pilgrims from across the country and beyond gathered to partake in the rituals and immerse themselves in the spiritual ambiance. A key ritual involved taking a holy dip in the sacred tanks of Sannihit Sarovar and Brahma Sarovar, believed to purify the soul.
