Nur Sofiqul Wazid resigns as IYC National secretary

Wazid expressed his concerns to the Congress leadership in his resignation letter, highlighting the necessity for moral leadership and responsibility inside the party.

Digital Desk: The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) National Secretary, Nur Sofiqul Wazid, tendered his resignation on Monday, marking the turning point ahead of the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The party's hierarchical structure has suffered a serious setback with this move. 

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and IYC President Srinivas BV received a formal letter from Wazid announcing his decision. He mentioned Rakibul Hussain's candidature as the main cause of his resignation in the letter, citing him as the Congress nominee from the Dhubri seat.

Characterizing Hussain as a "agent" of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Wazid charged him with fostering an autocratic leadership style and corrupt culture within the party. He said that seven MLAs had left the Congress during Hussain's presidency, citing the minister's influence as the reason for their departure. 

 Wazid lamented Hussain's alleged disregard for minority communities' concerns and chastised his conduct as a public representative. His decision to resign from his position inside the party was prompted by his expression of dissatisfaction with Hussain's leadership of the party.

The upcoming Lok Sabha elections are becoming more complicated, especially in light of Nur Sofiqul Wazid's departure and the political climate in Assam.
