Digital Desk: The government intends to remove the identities of those whose names were fraudulently added to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam, according to a statement made by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday.
"We are working on a large-scale scheme that will progressively remove names of the NRC list of those who registered their identities there by fraud by exposing the falsification. We are in the process of discussing this with the experts," Himanta Biswa Sarma stated.

On Sunday, the Chief Minister of Assam was present at the Swahid Diwas programme held in Swahid Smarak Khetra, Paschim Boragaon, in Guwahati.
Swahid Diwas, or Martyrs' Day, is observed on December 10 in Assam in remembrance of Khargeswar Talukdar, the first casualty of the Assam Movement at Bhabanipur in 1979.
"On December 10, the community honours Khargeswar Talukdar, the first martyr of the Assam Movement, who gave his life in defense of the community. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "I honour Khargeswar Talukdar and the other 860 martyrs of the Assam Movement on behalf of the Assamese community.
Among the government authorities present at the event were MP Pabitra Margherita, Assam Ministers Atul Bora and Keshab Mahanta, Chief Secretary Paban Kumar Borthakur, and others.
"We pay tribute to the heroic martyrs of the Assam Movement on Swahid Diwas. Our varied and distinctive culture was preserved by their sacrifice in this valiant movement. Our road will always be illuminated by their zeal and commitment, CM Himanta stated.
President of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Badruddin Ajmal, accused Congress of causing the public's troubles as a result of the state's National Register of Citizens (NRC) programme.
According to Badruddin Ajmal, a Lok Sabha MP from Assam's Dhubri seat, the Congress is to blame for the state's high rate of "Bangladeshi" identification.
"However, Congress is the one who created the NRC problem; we are not Bangladeshis; they constructed this incarceration camp. The Congress is the one who labelled us as Bangladeshis," stated Badruddin Ajmal during a party gathering on Saturday in the Dhubri region of Assam.
