    Work begins for electric vehicle charging station in Meghalaya

    Shillong: The Meghalaya government initiates the foundation stone ceremony for Friday for the first-ever electric vehicle charging station.





    The E Vehicle Consulting & Services (EVCS), whose foundation stone was set by the state-owned Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), will be the first such service in Meghalaya.





    The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) will generate 11 EV charging services in Shillong, including five in public areas and six at state establishments.





    According to sources, the first-ever electric vehicle charging hub will be fastened up at the PGCIL's building complex at Lapalang in Shillong. The PGCIL has already commenced the work for the project.





    The EVCS is exhibited under Faster Adoption and Manufacturing (Hybrid) and Electrical Vehicles (FAME) India Scheme, Phase-II.





    Every station shall have four 15 kW DC-001 Chargers and one 100 kW CCS-2/CHAdeMO Charger (dual gun), delivering 66 charging spots in Shillong city.





    Among these 11 places, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been confirmed for four, including POWERGRID Office Complex at Lapalang, MTC Ware House at Demthring, and MTC Parking at Police Bazar, including Polo Parking Lot at Polo.





    The firm has 172,154 transmission lines, 262 sub-hubs and more than 446,940 MVA of transformation capability. Including the appropriation of most advanced technological devices and systems, improved use of self-regulation and digital resolutions, POWERGRID has sustained average transmission operation availability of more than 99%, the ministry stated
