    Assam Panchayat Elections: Four Polling Officers Suspended For Losing Ballot Papers In Hailakandi
    As per an official order issued by the Office of the District Commissioner, Hailakandi, the accused have lost a bag containing ballot papers and other important materials related to the Panchayat elections at Polling Station No. 39 under the Umednagar-Rajyeshwarpur Zilla Parishad constituency.

    Digital Desk: Four polling officers in the Hailakandi district of Assam, including a presiding officer, were suspended for allegedly losing a bag containing ballot papers at Polling Station No. 39 under the Umednagar-Rajyeshwarpur Zilla Parishad constituency.

    The suspended individuals include Chiranjeeb Singha (Assistant Teacher of Victoria Memorial Higher School and the presiding officer of the polling station), Nasir Uddin Laskar (Assistant Teacher under BEEO, Hailakandi), Sorif Uddin Mazharbhuiya (Assistant Teacher under BEEO, Katlicherra), and Md. Ahmed Ali Laskar (AT under BEEO, Hailakandi).

    As per an official order issued by the Office of the District Commissioner, Hailakandi, the accused have lost a bag containing ballot papers and other important materials related to the Panchayat elections at Polling Station No. 39 under the Umednagar-Rajyeshwarpur Zilla Parishad constituency.

    The District Administration has termed the incident as "gross negligence in election duty." The negligence has led to the disruption of polling operations at the station.

    Departmental proceedings have been initiated against the accused, Hailakandi District Commissioner Nisarga Hivare said.

    As per report, an FIR has been filed and an investigation is underway.

    The incident has raised concerns among people over the serious lapse in election protocol.
