Lurinjyoti expressed confidence in their imminent victory in the Dibrugarh constituency while denouncing BJP candidate Sarbananda Sonowal.
Digital Desk: The announcement of Lurinjyoti Gogoi's candidacy from Dibrugarh in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections sparked joy among party supporters, culminating in a grand rally from his residence to Sukapha Bhawan. Lurinjyoti paid homage to the revered statue of Sukapha. This decision by the opposition alliance to select their paramount leader from the stronghold of Dibrugarh was met with delight.
As per the reports, over 500 vehicles and thousands of followers were seen at the rally. Opposition alliance leaders from Congress, CPIM, and TMC were also seen at the rally.
Following the homage to the Sukapha statue, Lurinjyoti expressed confidence in their imminent victory in the Dibrugarh constituency while denouncing BJP candidate Sarbananda Sonowal and urged the electorate to impart a lesson in the elections.
However, he dismissed Aam Aadmi Party candidate Manoj Dhanowar as insignificant, criticizing his assertion of victory margin as indicative of a narrow mindset. Lurinjyoti said, “A candidate who himself tells people that he will win the election with a margin is the outer expression of his narrow mind.”
Continuing his campaign, Lurinjyoti proceeded to Mayamora Dinjoy Satra, Sabua, further solidifying his appeal as a prominent political figure in Assam, garnering considerable public support. Originating from his involvement in the CAA protest and leadership in the Student Union ASSU, he represents a formidable opposition to former BJP CM Sarbananda Sonowal in Dibrugarh constituency.
Sarbananda Sonowal the former chief minister of Assam has a larger following and is known as the most generous CM of Assam for his amicable behaviour and public speaking skills. Minister Pijush Hazarika said, "Lurinjyoti will create history by losing consecutive elections."
