No Parking Charges For Two & Three-Wheelers In Guwahati From June
The declaration was made during a press conference at the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) office in Uzan Bazar.

Digital Desk: In a major relief for daily commuters, Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sarania on Friday announced that no parking fees will be charged for two-wheelers and three-wheelers parked in designated city parking areas starting June 1.

The declaration was made during a press conference at the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) office in Uzan Bazar.

The Mayor said that the GMC decided not to take any parking fees from the two-wheelers and three-wheelers from June 1. However, four-wheelers would still have to pay parking fees, he added.

The move is expected to benefit a large section of the city’s population and reduce traffic congestion caused by unregulated parking.

The GMC has also reduced the number of trade license categories to 120 from 7,000 to streamline processes and reduce the burden on small traders. This will cover traders who operate multiple businesses under a single license.

Mayor Mrigen Sarania also added that individuals who misuse business licenses will face strict punishments.

Women and indigenous community vendors operating in GMC lessee markets will be exempted from paying any fees, Sarania said.
