The results of the election will be announced on May 11
Digital Desk: Guwahati -The Panchayat voting process started in the 14 districts today. Today marks the first phase of the Panchayat voting procedures. The voting procedure began this morning in the regions of Upper Assam and Barak Valley. A very long queue was seen at the all the polling stations across the state. To ensure smooth conduct of the elections, security measures have been enhanced at all polling centers.
Voters started their polling at 7:30 AM throughout the 14 selected districts. The present Panchayat elections utilize ballot papers as their voting method.
The first phase of voting will cover 216 seats in ZPC (Zila Parishad Constituency). Across the 14 districts the total number of AP (Anchalik Panchayat) seats reaches 1,138. The election administration established 12916 polling stations across the voting areas. All voting centers have stepped up their security procedures.
It is noteworthy that in view of the elections , a public holiday has been declared in all 14 districts. This holiday has been declared under the NI Act of 1881, with necessary directives issued by the General Administration Department.
The 14 districts where voting is taking place today are as follows:- Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Majuli and additionally Jorhat and Golaghat with Dhemaji along Lakhimpur and Sonitpur districts and Biswanath, Cachar, Hailakandi and Sribhumi district.
The second phase of the Panchayat elections will take place on 7th May . The Election Commission indicates that 1,80,36,682 voters will cast their valuable votes for the Panchayat elections. Male voters make up approximately 90 lakh, while female voters total around 89 lakh of the 1,80,36,682 voters participating in the Panchayat Elections. The electoral results will be announced on 11th May.
