Union Government plans to launch seaplane services in partnership with De Havilland Aircraft of Canada.
Digital Desk: To improve tourism and regional connections, the Union Government plans to launch seaplane services in partnership with De Havilland Aircraft of Canada. Trials and demonstrations are taking place all over the nation, with important sites including Umiam Lake in Meghalaya, Munnar in Kerala, and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. The latest display, which showcases the versatility of seaplanes in water-based take-offs and landings, was inaugurated by Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu at Umiam Lake Sports Complex.
The services will be run by SpiceJet, which wants to give passengers a quicker, more scenic option to road trips. On social media, the Meghalaya Tourism Department wrote, "The day is not far off when you can go on a seaplane from Guwahati Riverfront to scenic Umiam Lake," urging tourists to enjoy the novel experience.
It is anticipated that seaplane services will improve accessibility and cut down on travel time by more effectively connecting far away tourist attractions. The idea, which was first presented at the 2018 Advantage Assam conference, demonstrates the government's efforts to include cutting-edge solutions in tourism and transportation. On November 9, the first operational services are scheduled to start, marking a major advancement in the development of India's tourism infrastructure.
