Mohammed Shami, the pacer, was not selected since he has not fully recovered from his ankle injury.
Digital Desk: India's squad for the final three Test matches against England has been announced by the BCCI on Saturday. Virat Kohli, expectedly was not named in the squad for the three Tests in Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala. "Virat Kohli will not be available for selection for the rest of the series because of personal reasons. The Board fully respects and supports Kohli's decision, "the BCCI stated in a release.
As reported earlier, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have been named subject to fitness clearance.
After being rested for the second Test, Mohammed Siraj, the pacer, is back in the lineup. In India's second innings in the Hyderabad Test, Jadeja injured his hamstring while going for a single, and Rahul was out with a quadriceps injury.
“The participation of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul is subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI medical team,” BCCI added.
No Shreyas Iyer; Avesh Khan replaced by Akash Deep
Rajat Patidar has also remained in the squad after Shreyas Iyer was left out of the 17-man roster, and Sarfaraz Khan, who was brought into the team to replace Rahul in the second Test, has kept his spot. Interestingly, the BCCI press statement made no mention of Iyer's back problem.
Following the second Test, the right-hander allegedly complained of problems with his back and groin.
Aside from Iyer's withdrawal, the only other notable change is the addition of Bengal pacer Akash Deep instead of Avesh Khan. The latter can now participate in the Ranji Trophy after being cleared. To help Akash Deep prepare for the future, the selectors wish to expose him to more opportunities.
Mohammed Shami, the pacer, was not selected since he has not fully recovered from his ankle injury.
Bumrah was reportedly going to be rested for the last two Test matches, but the selection committee has selected him vice-captain for the rest of the competition.
After giving it his all in Visakhapatnam, he was granted a 10-day respite, which is thought to have been a major factor in his retention. Whatever the outcome in Rajkot, Bumrah will probably be rested for the fourth Test in Dharamsala.
The selectors chose to stick with KS Bharat despite his dismal results with the bat and mediocre performance with the gloves in the seven Test matches he has played. In Rajkot, he'll probably start as India's goalie. But if he misses this chance, Dhruv Jurel might have an opportunity in the final two Tests in the series.

The third Test will begin in Rajkot on February 15 and the fourth Test will begin in Ranchi on February 23. On March 7, the series' fifth and final Test will take place at Dharamsala.
