Digital Desk: The Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians announced the replacements for two of their star players, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah. While Pant has been replaced by Abhishek Porel in the Delhi Capitals, Sandeep Warrier has replaced Bumrah in the Mumbai Indians roster for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. While the fate of the two players was known for some time, both MI and DC took their time in assessing competent replacements for the player and revealed the names of these freshmen on the day the IPL 2023 season is set to begin.
Pant is out for the full season due to injuries sustained in a car accident on December 30, last year. Meanwhile, Bumrah has been on the sidelines for quite some time. He did not play in either the Asia Cup or the T20 World Cup last year.
The IPL issued a statement in which it stated, "Porel, who is a wicketkeeper-batter, has played 16 first-class matches in addition to 3 List A and as many T20s for Bengal. Sandeep Warrier, who has played for India, has thus far played 68 T20s and taken 62 wickets. He was previously a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, having played 5 IPL games."
"While Porel joins Delhi Capitals for a fee of Rs 20 lakh, MI has hired Sandeep Warrier for a fee of Rs 50 lakh," the statement added.
