Digital Desk: In the third One-Day International against Sri Lanka on Sunday in Thiruvananthapuram, former India captain Virat Kohli showed his excellent batting form, scoring an unbeaten 166.
India captain Rohit Sharma was earlier elected to bat first after winning the toss. India got off to a strong start with the 95 runs that Rohit and Shubman Gill put up for the first wicket. After Rohit was dismissed in the sixteenth over, Kohli came to bat.

1. Kohli becomes the top five ODI run scorers in history
Before the third ODI began, Kohli only needed 63 runs to beat Mahela Jayawardene's record of 12,650 ODI runs. With his undefeated century, Kohli passed the legendary Sri Lankan batsman to rank fifth all-time in runs scored in one-day international tournament.
Kohli has now scored 12,754 runs in 259 ODI innings at an average of 58.2 and a strike rate of 93.7.
2. Kohli becomes the fastest batsman to hit 74 international centuries
Now that Kohli has 74 international centuries under his belt, he is just behind the great Sachin Tendulkar, who has 100 hundreds to his career.
Notably, Tendulkar needed 556 innings to get 74 international tonnes whereas Kohli only needed 543.
3. Kohli hits the fastest ODI 150 in Indian
After achieving his century, Kohli went on the attack, needing only 21 balls to get from 100 to 150.
Kohli set a record for the quickest ODI 150 on Indian soil by reaching his 150 in just 106 balls.
4. Kohli becomes the first batsman to score 10 ODI centuries against a single team
In his 50th one-day game against Sri Lanka, Kohli set a noteworthy mark in the third ODI in Thiruvananthapuram by scoring an unbeaten 166. Against Sri Lanka, this was Kohli's tenth ODI century.
5. In ODIs, Kohli now has the most unbeaten hundreds
With his outstanding performance against Sri Lanka, Kohli surpassed another record held by Sachin Tendulkar, as he now holds the record for the most undefeated hundreds in ODI cricket.
Tendulkar amassed 15 unbroken ODI tonnes during the course of his career, whereas Kohli currently has 16 such hundreds to his name.
