Digital Desk: Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria criticized Team India following its ODI series defeat to Bangladesh. Following a one-wicket defeat in the first ODI, India fell five runs short of chasing down a total of 272 in the second ODI. Bangladesh was battling at 69/6 when Mehidy Hasan Miraz hit an unbeaten century.
Kaneria slammed India's strategy, claiming that none of the bowlers attempted to target the Bangladesh batters and described the team's performance as "third class."
"Bangladesh's bowlers were outstanding, whereas India's bowling was third-class. It's tough, but you have to look at where Indian cricket is heading. Although the surroundings were comparable to those at home, Indian bowlers were becoming more visible. Short-pitched deliveries were used by the Indian bowlers; neither the body nor the yorkers were targeted. Runs were lost frequently by Siraj. Although he is aggressive, his bowling was not quite accurate," Kaneria made this statement on his YouTube channel.
The Indian batters battled once more, as they lost early wickets in the chase. Shreyas Iyer (82) and Axar Patel (56), who both hit brilliant fifties, put India back in form.
However, after their dismissal, India appeared to be on the verge of losing their second consecutive ODI series in Bangladesh.
After previously injuring his thumb and being brought to the hospital for examinations, India skipper Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 51 and nearly gave the visitors the victory.
The teams will now meet in the third and final ODI of the series on Saturday, December 10. The Men in Blue have suffered a big setback after skipper Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Sen, and Deepak Chahar were all ruled out due to injuries.
In Rohit's absence, KL Rahul will captain the team, who is scheduled to miss the Test Series against Bangladesh.
