Kohli’s stint as RCB captain ends with disappointment

UAE: Virat Kohli’s IPL stint as the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore has finally ended with disappointment. Team RCB was knocked out from the IPL on Monday after they faced defeat in the eliminator match by the Kolkata Knight Riders.

RCB batted first and managed to set a target of 138 after losing seven wickets. Captain Kohli was the leading scorer of the RCB’s innings with his knock of 39 in 33 balls. In the second innings, the match went down the wire until the last four balls of the last over. However, RCB could not restrain KKR until the end after Sunil Narine’s three mammoth sixes wrapped up the job for KKR.

Reacting to the result of the match, Kohli said that he will continue to play for the Bangalore franchise until the last day he plays at the IPL. Besides, he also stated that as a captain he gave his 120 per cent effort for the team every year.  Kohli also added that as a captain he tried to create a team culture where youngsters got opportunities to play expressive cricket.

Kohli’s best result as RCB captain was in 2016 when he led the team to the final where they lost to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 2017 and 2019 seasons RCB finished at the bottom of the table under Kohli’s leadership. Kohli led RCB in eleven seasons, but failed to win the title even once.
