"Players have been unpaid for the last five months": Ex-Pakistan captain makes shocking claim
Latif made his statement in response to rumours that the players are dissatisfied with the board because of the lack of support.

Digital Desk: In a shocking enrollment, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has revealed that members of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), particularly chairman Zaka Ashraf, have been ignoring Babar Azam's SMS messages. Pakistan could be eliminated early from the 2017 Cricket World Cup in India after suffering four losses in six games.

Pakistan lost their match against South Africa on Friday by a single wicket. Pakistan is presently sixth in the World Cup points standings. According to Latif, the board has not paid the Pakistani players for the previous five months.

"Babar Azam has been messaging the chairman. But he's not answering.
He even texted the PCB COO, Salman Naseer. But he also remained silent. Why is he not answering his captain? Next, you are releasing a press release. Furthermore, you are claiming that the central contracts will be revised. For the past five months, players have not gotten their salaries. Should the players listen to you?," Latif stated on PTV Sports.

Latif made his statement in response to rumours that the players are dissatisfied with the board because of the lack of support.

PCB also made a suggestion earlier this week that Babar's captaincy might be in danger if the team's World Cup campaign doesn't go as planned.

Babar has been under scrutiny as Pakistan has lost four straight games.
"Addressing the media scrutiny directed at captain Babar Azam and the team management, the board's stance, echoing that of former cricketers, is that successes and defeats are part of the game. In putting up the team for the ICC World Cup 2023, Captain Babar Azam and Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq were given freedom and support," according to the PCB.

"Considering the future, the board will decide what is best for Pakistan cricket based on how the team performs at the World Cup. As the squad works to pull off a spectacular comeback in the mega-event, the PCB currently exhorts supporters, former players, and stakeholders to unite behind them."
