Digital Desk: Virat Kohli has been brilliant in the T20 World Cup, and he continued his dream run with a 64-run knock against Bangladesh, making him the tournament's best run-getter with 220 runs. He has proclaimed his return to form by scoring three half-centuries in four games. Since the award's inception in January 2021, this strong run of performances has also earned him his first nomination for ICC Men's Player of the Month.

Virat Kohli has been nominated for the monthly award for October, along with South African David Miller and Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza. While Miller has helped South Africa in finishing the innings on numerous occasions, Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza has been a standout, winning three successive Man of the Match awards in the T20 World Cup.

Moreover, for their outstanding performance in the Women's Asia Cup last month, Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma have been nominated for the women's monthly awards.

Since its inception, the ICC Player of the Month Award has only been won by five Indian players. Rishabh Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Shreyas Iyer were named Men's Player of the Month, while Harmanpreet Kaur was named Women's Player of the Month.

Virat Kohli began his T20 World Cup with a stunning 82 against Pakistan, followed by another half-century against the Netherlands, and then an 11-run innings against South Africa. However, he recovered to form with a 64-run knock against Bangladesh.

In fact, with 1065 runs, Kohli surpassed Mahela Jayawardene as the top run-scorer in T20 World Cup history. The top Indian batsman also broke Sachin Tendulkar's record to become India's leading run-scorer in Australia. Kohli has now scored 220 runs in the event at a fantastic average of 220, making him the tournament's leading scorer.
