Guwahati will host two Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 matches
Digital Desk: The complete schedule for the ongoing TATA Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL) was made public by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday. The BCCI released the schedule for the first two weeks (21 matches) on February 22, 2024. The remaining schedule has been formulated, considering nationwide polling dates and locations for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
On May 15 and 19, Guwahati will host two Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 matches. The Rajasthan Royals vs. Punjab Kings game is scheduled for May 15, and the Rajasthan Royals vs. Kolkata Knight Riders match is scheduled for May 19.
The matches will be held at Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium in Barsapara, Guwahati. The Assam Cricket Association owns and runs the stadium. The stadium can hold up to 55,000 people at a time.
The BCCI press release notes, “Rajasthan Royals too have opted for a second venue in Guwahati and will play their final two home matches in Assam. They will first host Punjab Kings on May 15th and later play Kolkata Knight Riders on May 19th, which will also mark the conclusion of the league stage of the 17th season of IPL.”
“Rajasthan Royals have opted for a second venue in Guwahati & will play their final two home matches in Assam,” the Assam Cricket Association said on ‘X’ on Monday.
“Similarly to the season opener, the Qualifier 2 and the grand final will take place in Chennai, the home turf of reigning champions Chennai Super Kings. The Qualifier 2, to be played between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator, will take place on Friday, May 24th, followed by the summit clash on Sunday, May 26th,” BCCI further says.
