The iPhone 12 was the first series to receive a post-launch colour option...

Digital Desk: Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 series in September of last year, and the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models are now available in a new colour variation. Both versions are now available in yellow, in addition to the original five colours.

The iPhone 14 range received no significant updates or adjustments from Apple. The high-end iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max devices have also received no new colour options. A year ago, Apple added new colour variants to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro series, and the year before that, it added a new colour option to the iPhone 12 lineup.

There have also been numerous reports that Apple will release this new colour for iPhone 14 non-Pro variants.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus were originally available in five colours: Blue, Midnight, Purple, Starlight, and (Product) RED, but are now also available in Yellow. The phones come in three storage capacities: 128GB, 256GB, and 512 GB. The iPhone 14 starts at Rs. 79,900 in India, while the iPhone 14 Plus starts at Rs. 89,900.

Specifications for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus

The display on the iPhone 14 is a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED, while the display on the iPhone 14 Plus is 6.7-inch. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, on the other hand, are both powered by Apple's A15 Bionic chipset and ship with iOS 16 out of the box.

Both models have twin rear camera units with a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 1.9um sensor, and an f/1.7 aperture lens. The phones also contain a 12-megapixel sensor combined with an ultra-wide-angle lens with an f/2.4 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. The front selfie camera on these models, according to Apple, is a 12-megapixel TrueDepth sensor with an f/1.9 aperture lens.

According to its brand, the devices have better video recording capabilities than their predecessors and incorporate a stabilisation function called Action Mode. This mode enhances video correction by making use of the phone's motion sensors.

Cinematic mode is now available in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second and 4K resolution at 24 frames per second. Apple also emphasises the new Photonic Engine's increased low-light capabilities.

The ultra-wide camera's low-light performance is said to have improved by up to 2x, the TrueDepth front camera's by 2x, and the primary camera's by 2.5x. In addition, Apple states that the True Tone flash has been upgraded and is now 10% brighter.

Apple does not officially confirm the battery specifications of the devices, but claims that the base model has up to 20 hours of video playback time and the Plus model has up to 26 hours of video playback time.
