Digital Desk: Wipro, one of India's largest software service providers, has implemented a required hybrid work policy. Employees must be physically present in the office for a minimum of three days per week under this new guideline. The new office rule was officially announced by the corporation via email, with the policy taking effect on November 15, 2023.
The decision is consistent with a broader trend among major Indian IT firms, such as TCS and Infosys, which have also moved to office-based work arrangements. While this modification is intended to improve teamwork and increase in-person encounters, it also allows for some flexibility to account for regional differences, local laws, and agreements.
Money Control obtained information about this policy change from a company-wide email sent on November 6, 2023. Saurabh Govil, Wipro's Chief Human Resources Officer, noted that the transition to a hybrid work paradigm is intended to foster face-to-face collaboration, strengthen Wipro's corporate culture, and enable more effective communication.
"Starting November 15, all employees must be present at their assigned office location for at least three days each week," according to the email.
Wipro stated in an email that their new work philosophy intends to help solve problems faster, establish better teams, and encourage colleagues to collaborate more. They also stated that they would make certain tweaks to accommodate different countries' local restrictions. In several European countries, they will consult with employee groups to establish some ground rules.
Wipro is implementing this modification to reflect how work has changed since the outbreak. They want employees to work three days a week in the office to help them interact with their teams.
At the same time, they recognise that everyone has different demands, therefore they strive to be adaptable. Many other IT organisations are implementing similar changes to better meet the needs of their staff.
