Washington: As per a recent report from ANI, leading social media giant Facebook has announced on Thursday that it has started rolling out the end-to-end encrypted backups for the instant messaging platform WhatsApp. This new feature will be available for both Android and iOS users.
Facebook has been offering end-to-end encryption for chats in its WhatsApp platform since a long time now. However, with this new feature people will get the same degree of encryption with the backups as well.
According to reports, this new feature will be available soon for the users with the latest version of the application.

As of now the back-up chats in WhatsApp gets stored in Google Drive or iCloud. Although, this can be handed over by Google or Apple to law enforcement when required.
However, this new change will enable everyone to secure their backup chats with a password. This therefore will protect the data from other's access.
Earlier, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zukckerberg had announced that the company would be adding another layer of privacy and security to its WhatsApp platform soon.
