Gmail is rolling out its own blue verified checkmarks for verified senders
Due to scammers posing as banks and other public utilities to trick and defraud innocent people, emails desperately needed this capability.

Digital Desk: In order to verify the authenticity of emails, Gmail will now display a blue verified checkmark next to the sender's name, the firm said in a statement on Wednesday. The influence of this feature will be felt by both the sender and the recipients.

All Google Workspace subscribers, as well as traditional G Suite Basic and Business customers, will be able to access this feature in its entirety starting on May 3, 2023, over three days. Furthermore, users who have personal Google Accounts can access the feature.

For companies that have implemented Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) in Gmail, a verified checkmark will be visible. Inboxes of end users will automatically display a checkmark next to a brand's name. They do not need to adjust any settings.

A message that reads, "The sender of this email has verified that they own the domain and logo in the profile image," appears when you hover your cursor over the blue verified checkmark on an email.

By implementing this feature, senders may also take advantage of their brand trust. This checkmark will aid users and email security systems in recognising and stopping spam.
According to Google, "This fosters reader immersion and boosts trust in email sources, improving the email ecosystem overall."

Due to scammers posing as banks and other public utilities to trick and defraud innocent people, emails desperately needed this capability.

DMARC, which stands for Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance, must first be adopted by enterprises before they may utilise this capability. It aids in mail administrators' defence against hackers and other intruders faking their company and domain. They must also obtain a Verified Mark Certificate to confirm their logo.
A company can create a BIMI to obtain a verified checkmark in Gmail if they have fulfilled the aforementioned standards.
What is BIMI and how it works

In 2021, Google included BIMI to Gmail. Senders who want to use their brand logo as an avatar in emails must employ robust authentication and confirm the legitimacy of their brand logo. DMARC security checks are used by BIMI to provide brand logos to clients' inboxes. Users of BIMI can also manage their email logos.

Since Twitter decided to replace all previously verified checkmarks on its platform with new paid checkmarks, verified checkmarks have been in the news. Recently, Meta began offering its sponsored verification checkmarks.

A well-known Indian anchor named Nidhi Razan announced the chance she received through an email from a person posing as a Harvard University employee in 2020. She revealed that her job offer from Harvard was only an email scam in December 2021.
In nations like India where individuals are less knowledgeable about cyber security, email scams are extremely prevalent. People will be able to tell fake emails from real ones by looking for verified checkmark on emails.
